Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari starts in Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and vibrant capital, where our professional guide from Rashfa Tracking Safaris will meet you early in the morning. After a short briefing, you will embark on a scenic drive through the rolling hills and stunning countryside of Rwanda, heading toward the Gatuna or Cyanika border to cross into Uganda.

Once in Uganda, the landscape transforms into breathtaking views of terraced farmlands and mist-covered mountains. You will arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

In the evening, you can relax at your lodge surrounded by the peaceful forest atmosphere or take an optional community walk to interact with the Batwa people, Uganda’s indigenous forest dwellers who share their cultural traditions and music.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Return to Kigali

The highlight of your trip begins today! After an early breakfast, head to the Bwindi Park Headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla family group and then venture deep into the forest for your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience.

The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. As you hike through the dense jungle, the air fills with the songs of birds and rustling of leaves — until you finally meet the gentle giants. Spending an hour with these magnificent creatures, watching them feed, play, and care for their young, is truly magical.

After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and begin your scenic drive back to Kigali, arriving in the evening.
